Description
This On-call Maintenance Assistant position is a part time, 15 hours a week, 12 months a year. Rate of pay is $16.74 hourly. Eligible for retirement after 13 months of employment.

KEY FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, the On-Call Facilities Assistant is responsible for maintaining and coordinating the facility needs for the grantee.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Perform routine and minor repairs and services for the grantees facilities.
- Ensure facilities maintenance compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, and local regulations.
- Assist in the completion of facility requests through Child Plus as needed.
- Protect federal funds associated with facility needs. Ensure expenditures are appropriate with allowable budget.
-Maintain a system of consistent and accurate exchange of information with staff, vendors and subcontractors.
- Perform after hour emergency facilities and maintenance calls.
- Attend meetings and training as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to work without supervision, and be self-motivated.
- Preferred experience in repair and maintenance of equipment, furniture, fixtures, facilities systems, grounds or structures preferred.
- Skilled in using cleaning equipment and supplies.
-Preferred skills in making minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements: crouch, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead.
- Must have some carpentry skills (be able to use a saw, hammer, and drill).
- Must have flexibility in schedule to perform occasional after hour’s emergency services.
- Employment contingent upon successful results of the following: fingerprint background check, drug and alcohol screening.
All employment with Bear River Head Start is contingent upon Policy Council approval, and successful results of a background check. All applicants must also pass a drug test prior to hire, including working with children and families. Refusal to submit to testing will result in disqualification of further employment consideration.
