Description
This Preschool Receptionist position is full time, 8 hours a day Mon-Friday. Rate of pay is $15.64 hourly. Eligible for full benefits (including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, cafeteria plan, and retirement) and SEP retirement plan after 13 months of employment. Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
KEY FUNCTION:
Under the general supervision of the PHS Center Based Coordinator, direct supervision may be assigned according to program needs. The Receptionist will implement special projects for the Child Development Team. The Receptionist for the building will answer phones and monitor the building.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Work closely with the education coordinator and specialists to provide comprehensive service.
- Type for area coordinating staff; i.e., letters, memos, flyers, and forms used by the program and other office work, as requested by PHS Coordinators.
- Monitor and report to the PHS Center Based Specialist if there is a problem with classroom paperwork.
- Attendance report for classrooms in Utah and Idaho. Double-check attendance for Home Based and Center Based.
- Interpret for Spanish speaking parents in the center as needed.
- Answer phones and monitor the Logan classroom building.
- Address specific transition issues, concerns, needs, benefits of the program, curriculum development, and communication between Head Start, public schools, and parents.
- Coordinate communication and information sharing between Head Start and public schools.
- Document collaborations, meetings, and ongoing activities of the transition program.
- Be instrumental in helping with continued development of the transition component requirements.
- Data entry for outcome as requested.
- Translate information into Spanish as needed for Center Based staff.
- Help coordinate building needs with the different school districts and city officials.
- Oversee and deliver outcome data and observation to the appropriate schools in the fall.
- Substitute in classrooms as needed.
- Other special projects and duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Spanish fluency preferred. (Speak, read, and write Spanish).
- Excellent communication and people skills required.
- One year office experience preferred.
- Must be attentive to detail and follow through.
- Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must pass a type test of at least 50 words per minute.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to sit, kneel, and get up from the floor and small chairs frequently.
- Must pass a background check.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be computer literate with word processing programs and have experience with graphic programs.
All employment with Bear River Head Start is contingent upon Policy Council approval, and successful results of a background check. All applicants must also pass a drug test prior to hire including working with children and families. Refusal to submit to testing will result in disqualification of further employment consideration
